NO BEER LEAVES THORNY DEVIL DRY

Unfortunately for the Thorny Devil crew the computer says, ‘No”.

At least the bank one did when they sought some help in fixing a problem that had short circuited the brewery.

The award-winning operation from WA’s Peel region needed a new bright tank. To be kind, the old girl aint what she used to be after failing a pressure test.

Without a replacement Thorny Devil can’t package. And that means no beer to the punters.

Thorny Devil’s Peter McAppion had the funds to pay for the delivery of a new tank and it on its way but he believes he is short around $25,000 to have it commissioned.

As the bank wouldn’t assist McAppion has launched a crowdfunding campaign, hoping to draw on loyal and infrequent customers who want to see more of the Pale Ale, Vienna Lager and Blonde Ale around the region.

However, Thorny Devil is stretching its planning and hopes to raise $75,000 from the Pozible plea with the extra monies to be used on a bottling line.

“It is like the drought all over again,” McAppion says. “But we need the help to get back up and running.”

Thorny Devil has made its mark from its Lake Clifton base, winning medals at the Craft Beer Industry of Australia and Australian International Beer Awards.

McAppion follows a traditional approach to his beers, using, when possible, only German malt and capitalising on the rain water available to the brewhouse, which is next to Cape Bouvard winery.

As is customary with crowd funding campaign there are incentives for investors and the three-year fixed-price guarantee is something to consider.
